Integrated reporting as an interactive reporting experience
Quick Read
Simple, visual and easy to understand, multi-dimensional and future-oriented. According to the study “Generation Y and Integrated Reporting”, this is how millennials think of the ideal corporate reporting. We have aligned Munich Airport’s Integrated Report 2022 with these expectations. The result is an interactive website that is unique in the field of integrated reporting thanks to its exceptional accessibility.
Customer Challenge
Under the title “WE. CONNECT”, the digital report demonstrates in an almost playful way how Munich Airport interacts with its environment through its own resources as well as its economic, environmental, and social relationships. Bringing together these financial and non-financial disclosures is considered a structural challenge of integrated reporting. The airport therefore aimed to make the report even more digital, more informative, more integrated, and more accessible.

Solution
The integrated report addresses this challenge by placing the business model at its core — and designing it as an interactive user and information experience. A stakeholder-specific approach to navigation makes the complex relationships between input, outcome, and the resulting impact tangible. This allows users to understand how Munich Airport is tackling its challenges, which strategies and measures are paving the way for the future, what effects these have, and what value is being created.
Insight & Impact
To convey the complex interrelationships in an intuitive way, we placed the information needs and usage habits of stakeholders at the heart of the concept — in line with regulatory requirements. For companies required to comply with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) from 1 January 2024, this report serves as something of a model: both in its stakeholder focus and in its multidimensional approach. It recognises that companies and brands are part of a larger system, and that their long-term acceptance, profitability and viability depend not only on economic factors, but equally on social and environmental ones.
