Building Bridges — when architecture becomes communication

Quick Read

Munksjö Decor is an internationally operating manufacturer of decor paper in the premium segment. Decor paper serves as the foundation for printing large-scale material patterns, such as wood or stone surfaces, which are then laminated and glued onto chipboard in a subsequent industrial process. This results in kitchen worktops and furniture fronts. The Interzum international trade fair for the furniture supply industry, held every two years in Cologne, was a welcome opportunity for Munksjö to greet the international audience with a premium exhibition presence.

Customer Challenge

Every exhibition appearance is linked to a strategic communication statement. Every architectural design is a translation of a strategic message into space. The architectural design had to become a symbol of the strategic message. At the same time, it was not necessary to exhibit a product. The exhibition stand was conceived as an inspiring gesture of welcome for the international specialist audience.

Solution

In 2017, the merger of Munksjö with Smurfit was announced in the context of the trade fair appearance. The sweeping arch symbolised and connected the two partners, while also serving as the gateway to a shared future.

Insight & Impact

Every two years since 1999, outstanding exhibition presentations have been created based on a consistently applied corporate architecture, which have regularly been awarded as some of the best at the respective Interzum exhibitions. Furthermore, Munksjö and hw.design have received numerous international awards at prestigious competitions.
