New corporate identity for a green technology start-up
Quick Read
The success story of VoltStorage began in 2016 as a Munich-based startup. Using the non-critical raw materials iron and salt, the young company developed a battery specifically for Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) applications, serving as an important building block for a climate-friendly energy future. Unlike conventional storage technologies, VoltStorage relies on a sustainable alternative based on flow battery technology. The result is revolutionary: green, durable, and safe batteries for a wide range of applications.

Customer Challenge
For VoltStorage, the new corporate identity should be an evolutionary yet decisive step to a new level – moving away from an innovative start-up towards an innovative company that has already achieved market leadership in a promising future market.

Solution
After an initial engagement with the technology, competitors, and the development of possible positioning scenarios, various styles were created under the guiding theme “Brave innovator in the new energy world.” The focus was also on advising and guiding management and the decision-making circle. Ultimately, a conservative wordmark was chosen, which was activated through progressive typography (font: Neue Machina) and colour.

Insight & Impact
The company has successfully established itself based on the new corporate identity. In 2022, Cummins Inc invested €24 million in the growth plan, and in 2024, the management team was significantly expanded.
