hw.d art project #06: Brandon Herman — House of Leaves

Quick Read
hw.design initiated the hw.d art project over many years. Each artist was either given a task to interpret freely, or a specific work of the artist was presented, which conveyed interesting positions and perspectives within the intersection of design and art. Depending on the project and its execution, this resulted not only in the conceived works but also in a high-quality print publication or a digital contribution, and occasionally an exhibition in a gallery.

Solution
The artist Brandon Herman from New York reflected on his origins and history by staging photographic scenes of himself in the garden of his childhood home.

Insight & Impact
In our own work, too, engaging with history and what came before is an important perspective for approaching tasks and developing solutions. In the personal reflection that Brandon adopts in his artistic engagement, it becomes clear that the past can no longer be changed and will always shape the future.
