Brand development as a design sprint for a start-up

Immunotherapies are considered one of the most effective treatment methods for cancer. However, they are also time-consuming and, above all, costly. Whether individual patients respond to these therapies can, until now, only be monitored with significant time delays and inadequate precision. ImuVeo has developed a procedure that saves considerable time and costs while also enabling much more accurate assessments of actual effectiveness. We helped the start-up get ready for their second funding round by providing a professional brand presence and a significantly refined pitch deck.

Customer Challenge

Successful start-ups are always born from a good idea; they are innovation-driven and pursue their goals with great passion. What often falls by the wayside, however, is brand building. This was also the case with ImuVeo: emerging from a medical degree, the young company faced the challenge of finding investors for the clinical phase of its innovation. Since this involved substantial sums of money, the team understood that a professional appearance was essential to inspire confidence in potential investors.

Solution

Start-ups typically do not have large freely available budgets even during the ramp-up phase, as funding and similar grants are usually earmarked for specific purposes. Therefore, we compressed the analysis and development phase into a design sprint: within just one week, we analysed the competition, positioned ImuVeo, and developed the design framework concept including the logo, colours, typography, and visual language. Additionally, we worked together with the team to create a line of argumentation as the foundation for a new pitch deck aimed at investors.

Insight & Impact

Following the design sprint, the design framework concept was developed into a corporate design system. Its first application was in the creation of the new pitch deck: ImuVeo had populated the slides with content based on the line of argument. We then implemented these creatively, including all graphics, diagrams, illustrations, and other visuals, resulting in an attractive, brand-defining pitch deck that effectively highlighted the key messages for the core target group of investors. Additionally, we derived the content structure for a website from this, which ImuVeo implemented with a digital service provider. Thus, a professional presence including the most important points of contact for the core target group was pragmatically established in a short period of time.
